Farmer certification
Description:
The purpose of certification is to ensure that farmers meet international market standards. Farmers will be trained in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) that environmental and economic sustainability, and which result in safe and health agricultural products.

Process:
The farmer attends a series of training workshops that address topics such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), marketing, planning of production, use and control of pesticides, record-keeping, and business planning. These training workshops are provided free of charge by the Ministry of Agriculture. Workshops are typically over a (non-consecutive) four day period. As space is limited (up to forty farmers accommodated), farmers are selected for attendance each year. A farmer can express interest through their respective Extension Officer.
On completion of attendance, the farmer will be issues with a Certificate of Attendance, as well as the Farmer's Identification Card.
Requirements:
To achieve certification, farmers must attend all scheduled workshops.
Farmers attend refresher training every three (3) years to ensure continued certification.
