Application for Ticket Tax Exemption
Description:
Students can obtain a waiver of government tax, including departure tax on the cost of their ticket when leaving St. Lucia to attend school overseas. This service is
NOT
applicable for students attending graduation ceremonies.

Process:
The following documents must be submitted to the Ministry in order to qualify for exemption:
Acceptance Letter from an accredited school along with National ID or Passport (First Time Students) or Student ID, if already enrolled at a school.
Flight itinerary from the airline/travel agency, stating the cost of the ticket, the government tax and the departure tax - all stated separately.
A memo to the Director of Finance seeking exemption from payment of ticket tax is prepared by the officer who signs and affixes the Ministry’s official stamp. This memo which is given to the student is to be taken to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, 3rd Floor, Financial Building, Bank of St. Lucia, Castries. A Certificate of Exemption will also be issued to the student for waiver of departure tax which is to be used on the day of travel. The student is required to
secure
this waiver, as another one will
NOT
be issued.
After the student submits the memo to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, a letter is prepared for the applicant and issued by the officer. This letter is to be taken to the respective airline/travel agency.
The waiver of the government tax and departure tax exemption is applied upon purchase of the travel ticket.

This service is only applicable to Saint Lucian citizens who are pursuing studies outside of Saint Lucia
