The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Commonwealth PhD and Master’s Scholarships tenable at a University in the United Kingdom, commencing September/October 2019.
Scholarships are offered under six (6) developmental themes and candidates must apply under one (1) of these themes:
- Science and technology for development
- Strengthening health systems and capacity
- Promoting global prosperity
- Strengthening global peace, security and governance
- Strengthening resilience and response to crises
- Access, inclusion and opportunity
Eligibility Requirement:
To be eligible for selection applicants must:
- be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person;
- be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country;
- be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2019;
- by October 2019, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree);
- NOT be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, at a UK university before September/October 2019 (PhD applicants Only);
- Master's candidates who have undertaken any of their university education outside their home country, will be asked to state how it was funded and how the education differed from that in their home country.
- All PhD candidates must provide a supporting statement from a named supervisor from at least one of the UK universities to which they are applying. If a supporting statement is not provided for their first choice university, the CSC reserves the right to place the candidate at another institution for which they have a supporting statement.
Please note that Awards are no longer offered to complete PhD study already underway in the UK.

Application Procedure
All candidates who wish to be nominated for a Commonwealth Scholarship must first apply using the Electronic Application System (EAS) provided by the Commonwealth Commission on its above-mentioned website. The Commission will not accept direct applications for these scholarships.
The Government Scholarship Application Form found at http://www.govt.lc/forms/ MUST also be completed and submitted to the Human Resource Development Unit WITH A HARD COPY OF YOUR EAS FORM. The Government Scholarship Application form can also be obtained at the Human Resource Development Unit of the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations, 4thFloor, Francis Compton Building, The Waterfront, Castries. Deadline for submission of application forms through the EAS is Wednesday, December 19, 2018. The deadline for submission of all 2018 UK Commonwealth Scholarship application packages to the HRD Unit, Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations is Friday, December 21, 2018.
