STIPENDIUM HUNGARICUM SCHOLARSHIP 2024 - 2025
The Department of Education, Innovation and Vocational Training informs of the call for applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for studies starting in the academic year 2024-2025. The aim of the scholarship is to provide opportunities for foreign students to pursue their higher education studies in Hungary.
Please note that this call for applications is for bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, non-degree programmes, postgraduate specialist training courses and doctoral programmes only. Preparatory courses are not available for postgraduate specialist training courses. The scholarship programme offers both full-degree and partial study opportunities in the three-cycle degree structure (bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes). The modality of the programmes is mainly English. Students can also apply for a one-year Hungarian Language preparatory training course, following which they can pursue their higher education studies in Hungarian language.

Applicants are eligible to apply only for those scholarship types and study fields that are determined in the educational cooperation programmes in effect between Hungary and the specific sending partner (Ministry of Education). Each applicant can apply for up to TWO different study programmes, in order of preference. These two study programmes can be both at the same Host Institution and at different Host Institutions. Please note that after submitting the application, the selected programmes (including the study language and the study model) and the order of preference cannot be changed by the applicant.
VALUE OF THE AWARD
The scholarship provides the following:
- Tuition-free education;
- Accommodation contribution;
- Medical Insurance; and
- Monthly stipend.
Please note that these provisions are only a contribution to the living expenses of the scholarship holders. It means that it does not fully cover all the costs of living and the students need to add their own financial resources in order to cover all living expenses in Hungary.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for selection applicants must:
- be a citizen or permanent resident of Saint Lucia;
- be in good physical and mental health to complete the programme successfully;
- be 18 years or older as of 31 August, 2024;
- select an area of study listed on the “Government of Saint Lucia List of Priority Areas for National Training”, which can be accessed on the Government of Saint Lucia website:

- be applying for the undergraduate (BA/BSc) and undivided, one-tier master’s (OTM) studies have to possess certifiable secondary education;
- be applying for graduate (MA/MSc) studies have to be in possession of an adequate and appropriate Bachelor’s (BA/BSc) degree; and
- be applying for full doctoral (PhD/DLA) studies have to be in possession of an adequate and appropriate graduate (MA/MSc) degree.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- All candidates who wish to be nominated for the Stipendium Hungaricum must first apply through the online application systems of Tempus Public Foundation.
- All applicants are highly advised to carefully read out Application “Dos and Don’ts document as well as the Privacy Policy they need to consent to in order to submit the application.
- Applicants are also required to complete and submit the Government of Saint Lucia Scholarship Application online via
http://scholarships.education.gov.lc/ (see below for required documents).
Applicants should follow the process below:
- Complete the requisite online application through the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation, and upload the required documents to your online application.

- Complete the Department of Education Online Application, and upload the required documents to your online application.
- After submitting the Government of Saint Lucia online application, you will receive a confirmation email.
If you do not receive the confirmation email after submitting your online application, please send an email to: hrd@education.gov.lc or hrdeducation.slu@gmail.com.
Applicants should note that incomplete applications will not be considered.
Documents required by the Sending Partner (Ministry of Education):
- Verified copy of the diploma for the highest degree obtained (verified by the Ministry of Education)
- Copy of transcript of grades for the highest academic degree completed and/or to be completed.
- Two (2) recommendation letters from current or former, professor, supervisor, business leader, etc., stamped and/or signed. If unemployed or never employed, the candidate may obtain recommendations from whom they think can give academic, professional or personal references. Recommendation letters must be written and signed by the recommenders and they cannot come from a relative of the applicant.
- Cover Minute from Permanent Secretary/Head of Department, endorsing the request for Training (For Public Service Employees only);
- Statement of Conduct and Work Ethics Form (for Public Service Employees only). This form can be accessed at http://www.govt.lc/media.govt.lc/www/resources/forms/statement-of-conduct-and-work-ethics.pdf
- Curriculum Vitae (must not exceed 2 pages);
- Copy of Birth Certificate;
- Copy of the Official Identification Card (ID) – Government issued ID by the Sponsoring Country or Passport; and
- Police Record three (3) months or less.
The deadline for submission of all Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship applications on the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training scholarship portal is no later than 15th January, 2024 (2 p.m. Central European Time/ 9 a.m. Atlantic Standard time, Saint Lucia).
