Over 200 athletes are expected to participate in running, swimming, and cycling in Saint Lucia.

The picturesque Pigeon Island National Landmark in Saint Lucia will be host to the fourth Digicel Saint Lucia Triathlon next weekend.

The diverse mass participation sporting event is expected to attract over 200 athletes together with health and sporting enthusiasts of varying levels of fitness from around the world.

Title sponsor and partner, Digicel, said: "Our facilitation, which will be fully supported by a cadre of highly skilled and dedicated Digicel team members, involves a strategic partnership with John Lunt—the principal behind this initiative along with several other partners, many of whom we already have well established relationships with."

Other partners include the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, tourism partners like the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, and other sporting associations.

Digicel Country Manager Siobhan James-Alexander, said the company is proud to be associated with the triathlon and looks forward to yet another successful event.

“The Saint Lucia Triathlon affords us yet another opportunity to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to national sports development. This is an event that will no doubt require detailed planning and implementation across the board and Digicel is perfectly poised to offer the technical and logistical support to power the various mobile, data, broadband and business solution platforms needed,” she said.

Event Director John Lunt, who organized the triathlon at the Olympic Games in London, said: “Once again having Digicel on board as title sponsor is a fantastic endorsement of the event now in its fourth year. The tagline “Be Extraordinary” fits in perfectly with the sport of triathlon. It is a tough sport and shows that people can do extraordinary things when they put their minds to it," he said.

"The distances are all achievable," he added. "The shortest , a 200 meter swim, three mile bike, and 1.5 mile run make it ideal for your first triathlon. There will also be a number of children’s events on the day. It is a great honor to help stage an event on the beautiful island of Saint Lucia."

The triathlon will be held on Nov. 19 in Rodney Bay. For details, visit tristlucia.com.
