The evolution of the Tourism Development Act

THE ACT CONTAINS A FRAMEWORK THAT SEEKS ALLOW AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO BENEFIT FROM THE TOURISM INDUSTRY.

Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire applauds the efforts of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority in the development of the Tourism Development Act.

“The staff is working really hard to keep Saint Lucia in the forefront and driving Saint Lucia as a destination. I want to applaud and encourage them so that we can think of even more creative ways to reach out to consumers, so when they are choosing, they going to choose Saint Lucia. Let’s create a vibe about Saint Lucia. Let’s make Saint Lucia a really desirable place to go, so that it is one of the first destinations that people look up and the final destination they choose.” Members of the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) were also included in the accolades.

Dr. Hilaire describes the upcoming legislation as monumental.

“In relation to the economic development of Saint Lucia, the act contains a framework that seeks empower as many sectors as possible, and allows as many persons as possible to benefit from the tourism industry. I would really like to commend the permanent secretary and the staff of the Ministry of Tourism for the hard work that they have done.”

The Tourism Development Act seeks to create an environment more conducive to the tourism sector while keeping Saint Lucians and visitors safe during the COVID-19 era.
