THE FACILITY BOASTS A RESTAURANT, A SPA, OUTDOOR SHOWERS, A SOUVENIR SHOP, AND OFFERS NON-MOTORIZED WATER-SPORTS.
Locals and visitors now have one more reason to visit and enjoy Soufriere. On Friday, April 5, the Government of Saint Lucia officially opened the Soufriere Beach Park at Hummingbird Beach.
The newly opened Soufriere Beach Park boasts a restaurant, a spa, outdoor showers, a smoothie bar, a beach bar, a pizzeria, a souvenir shop, a tourism information centre, and offers non-motorized water-sports.
Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet expressed gratitude to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for its assistance. The prime minister said this key project creates sustainable employment and business opportunities for Saint Lucians.
“I am extremely proud of the work that Hon. Herod Stanislas has been doing to develop and uplift Soufriere/Fond St Jacques,” he said. “Some of the other projects which Hon. Stanislas and his team have been able to implement or are currently working on include: the expansion of the Sulphur Springs with three additional pools; the Soufriere Town Square which is nearing completion; the porte cochère (bus terminal) and market at Old Trafford which is currently under construction, rehabilitation of the Soufriere Fire Station; the upgrading of the playing field and courts in Fond St. Jacques; the rehabilitation of the Edmund Forest/En Bas Saut Waterfall road; and the construction of several sidewalks, footpaths and drainage improvement projects throughout the constituency.”
The beach facility will employ one administrator, two janitors, seven wardens: including one beach ranger, two life guards, two hostesses, and one maintenance person. In addition, eleven local entrepreneurs will conduct business operations within the park.
