Education Minister Dr. Robert Lewis stresses government’s commitment to developing its human resource.

Minster for Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, Hon. Dr. Robert Lewis, said that the government is committed to the development of its human resource.

His comments were made at the recent graduation ceremony of students of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, on Sunday.

According to Dr. Lewis, the government has invested over $2 million in scholarships for students to pursue studies at university colleges in the Caribbean, Canada, the US and the UK.

“Over the last three years, the Government of Saint Lucia has expended $2,444,760.70 for island scholarships to university colleges in Canada, the United States, UWI and the UK. We take that investment in our human resource very seriously. Our human resource is Saint Lucia’s most abundant and significant.”

Fortuna Husbands-Anthony represented the Board of Governors of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.  She said the board strives to allow everyone access to quality tertiary education.

“The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is committed to increasing access to quality education for all Saint Lucians through relevant tertiary education based on excellence, in scholarship, teaching and service,” she said. “Like Sir Arthur Lewis, this board envisions there is every opportunity for each Saint Lucian household to have a Sir Arthur Lewis Community College graduate.”
