The designers were invited to show their pieces in the "Rock the Runway" segment, which featured the best designs of the three-day fashion event.

The Ministry of Creative Industries sponsored two of Saint Lucia’s most promising young designers, to showcase their work at Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW), in Jamaica earlier this month.

Taribba do Nascimento of "meme bete," and Fiona Compton of "Paradise Prints" were received with standing ovations at the emerging designer showcase at CFW 2015.

Meme bete bags were chosen to open the show with its new and improved Masquerade line. The line mimicks the vibrancy and movement of masquerade characters and encompassed bold colors and fringes. Jaeylu designs provided the garments for this collection, while Island Seeds’ Jack and Zaid provided the accessories.

Fiona Compton’s Iyanola Collection was a colorful and memorable addition to the show, with bold paintings of historical petroglyphs mixed in with her signature florals. Her line included a range of garments from swimsuits to kaftans, and was accessorized by Niki’s Biedes.

Both designers were invited back to the finale show to provide some of their pieces for the "Rock the Runway" segment, which featured the best designs of the three-day fashion event.

James Adjodha and Jesse Evans of Wavemaker Photography documented the experience, which was uploaded to social media in real time. Followers were able to experience and relive the designers’ journey, while allowing the designers’ work to reach even further audiences.

“This experience has been better than we could have ever imagined. So many opportunities have surfaced because of this, and we are ever so grateful to everyone who has helped us succeed," said Compton.

The designers, as well as the photographers, have already been invited to fashion shows in Miami and Aruba and have been approached by wholesalers, creating more export opportunities for their businesses.

CFW was held from June 11 to 15.
