Fifty Senior Constables of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) culminated a very intense two-week training course Monday, which was aimed at increasing their human resource capacity.

The areas of training included ethics, values, human rights and social responsibility, handling complaints and the use of force.

Director of Training, Superintendent Severin Moncherry told participants that the value of the course should manifest in increased productivity.

“As the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force seeks to reduce crime and social disorder it is important to develop its human resources. This training was geared at preparing you to face the challenges of the 21st century and beyond. You are now better equipped to perform your duties efficiently and professionally. I implore you to make good use of the training you received and share the information that you gleaned.”

Police Commissioner Vernon Francois, encouraged the officers to continue to take their professional development seriously, even if it meant having to sacrifice.

“As senior constables you have a very important role to play in the efforts of the police department at ensuring a safer and more secure Saint Lucia,” he said. “You are about to move on to become supervisors and the Government of Saint Lucia has recognized your role for that purpose. You know that Senior Constables have now been included in the structure of the Police Department. Grades six and seven are now reserved for you as Senior Constables of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force."

A new police training program under the auspices of the Regional Security System (RSS) will commence on Monday, June 23, 2014.
