Prime Minister Allen Chastanet acknowledged the countries' diplomatic ties and pledged government's continued support.
The government and people of Saint Lucia extend congratulations to the Republic of China (Taiwan), on the occasion of the country's 105th National Day (Oct. 10.)
Over the last century, Taiwan's development in the areas of agriculture, health care, trade and industry, innovation and technology, and fiscal responsibility has been commendable.
Since re-establishing diplomatic ties, Saint Lucia has been fortunate to have benefitted from the expertise of Taiwan through initiatives such as the Taiwan Scholarship Program, the Constituency Development Program (CDP), the Fruit and Vegetable Demonstration and Extension Cooperation Project, aquaculture, the ICT Technical Cooperation Project, the Black Sigatoka Disease Treatment and Prevention Project, and the Saint Lucia-Taiwan Partnership Trade Exhibition. Taiwan has also pledged to help Saint Lucia in the much needed area of security.
“As Taiwan marks this day in the country’s history, we the people of Saint Lucia—our farmers, our young people, our future doctors and IT specialists—are thankful for your friendship and we celebrate with you," Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet said. "We know that Taiwan will continue to be a great nation and we pledge our support on your continued journey.”
