HON. PHILIP J. PIERRE PLEDGES TO REPRESENT ALL SAINT LUCIANS.

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre took an oath of service to the nation on July 28, as he commenced official duties as the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party was led to victory at the polls by Prime Minister Pierre, having secured 13 seats during the democratic exercise.

Following the Swearing in Ceremony, Prime Minister Pierre said: “It has been a long and arduous journey. Today, I want to thank God for carrying me thus far. I shall require his support and guidance in the coming days, and years in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the Saint Lucian people. 

As Prime Minister, I promise to be prime minister for not some of the people but all the people. We must now transition into running a country, which is inclusive, equitable and just.”

Hon. Phillip J Pierre is the eighth person to hold the title of Prime Minister of Saint Lucia. This adds to his long career in the governance of the country as he has served in the capacities of Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and International Financial Services from 1997 to 2001; Minister for Commerce, International Financial Services and Consumer Affairs from 2001 to 2006; Minister for Infrastructure, Ports Services and Transportation from 2011 to 2016; and Leader of the Opposition from 2016 to 2021. He has also been the Parliamentary Representative for Castries East since 1997.

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre now serves as Saint Lucia’s eighth Prime Minister.
