Prime Minister attends CARICOM 48th Heads of Government meeting

HON. PHILIP J. PIERRE WILL ADDRESS THE OPEN PLENARY SESSION ON FEBRUARY 20 ON CLIMATE FINANCE.
Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre will attend the 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), scheduled to take place in Barbados from February 19-21, 2025.

Convened under the theme “Strength in Unity: Forging Caribbean Resilience, Inclusive Growth, and Sustainable Development,” the Meeting will address critical regional priorities, including food and nutrition security, climate change and climate finance, the ongoing situation in Haiti, security concerns, digital resilience, external relations, and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). Leaders will also deliberate on matters related to maritime and air transport, as well as the issue of reparations.

On February 20th, 2025, Prime Minister Pierre, CARICOM’s Lead Head for Sustainable Development and Climate Change, will deliver an intervention on climate change, including climate finance, during the open plenary session.

The Prime Minister’s participation reflects Saint Lucia’s dedication to regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges that impact the Caribbean.

During the Prime Minister’s absence, the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister.
