The Saint Lucia National Lottery renews its commitment to the island's sporting organizations.
The National Lotteries Authority continues its efforts to promote youth and sports development by providing financial assistance to clubs and organizations islandwide.
Over EC$200,000 was presented to various sporting organizations at a special ceremony held this past weekend.
The funds will be used for local sporting events, youth programs and projects undertaken in the various communities.
Chairman of the National Lotteries Authority, Michael St. Catherine assured the sporting organizations of its commitment towards the youth and sports development.
“All in all, 2015 was a productive year where we were able to implement many of our infrastructural projects in collaboration with the ministry. A lot of these things are ongoing because of the work of the National Lotteries Authority. We thank you for participating and giving us your support.”
The donations were made possible by the Canadian Bank Note and Cage Saint Lucia.
Representative of Cage Saint Lucia, Lindsey Joseph expressed pleasure in being part of the mandate to develop youth and sports in Saint Lucia.
“We would like to encourage those sporting organizations who have queries to send proposals to the National Lotteries Authority. We would like to also encourage our customers and players to play responsibly. Your contributions go a long way, but we would like you to do it in a very responsible manner.”
Canadian Bank Note representative, Allison Jules, made a special appeal to the sporting organizations to continue working hard.
The National Lotteries Authorities commended their partners for the financial assistance and expressed hope that in the future, more support will be given to schools.
