The video spotlights communities islandwide that have contributed to Saint Lucia's tourism product.

The Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries has launched a Community Tourism Feature that spotlights communities islandwide.

The initiative was patterned after the 2014 World Tourism Day theme "Tourism and Community Development."

Tourism Officer Samantha Charles said the video feature fits into the ministry’s mandate.

"Given the fact that the Ministry’s mandate includes awareness, we thought it fitting to identify and recognise the communities on the island that have contributed in some meaningful way to our overall tourism product," she explained.

The Community Tourism Promotion Program is a unique project developed in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries, the Visitor Channel, and Alliance Française to explore and expand the participation of all communities in tourism development.

"We look forward to future collaborations where we highlight Saint Lucia’s tourism product in a number of different ways," Ms. Charles added. The video feature was launched on Thursday at Alliance Française.
