THE 2022 THEME COOPERATION AND COLLABORATION, SPEAKS TO THE POWER OF WORKIG TOGETHER TO REACH A COMMON GOAL.

The Saint Lucia and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) joins the world in recognizing the role of the Air Traffic Controller on this auspicious day dubbed International Day of the Air Traffic Controller.

This year's theme, "Cooperation and Collaboration," speaks to the power of working together to reach a common goal. "We cannot work in siloes. Safety, even of our skies, lies in all our hands," echoed Acting Director of Airports, Ms. Amy Charles. She further emphasized the ATC's unique role. "Thousands of flights are guided safely through our skies every day. Their successful journey is indisputably dependent on the professionalism and training of air traffic controllers and the skills they employ."

International Day of the Air traffic Controller is celebrated on October 20th and marks the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (IFATCA) anniversary. According to IFATCA, "The day also celebrates all the men and women worldwide who work to help make air travel the safest possible mode of transport."

At SLASPA, our Air traffic controllers are vital to realizing the Authority's mandate "To facilitate travel and trade, through value creation in a safe, secure, and customercentric environment for sustained social and economic development." They are highly specialized professionals policing and navigating our skies with the primary concern of ensuring safety and maintaining air travel efficiency.

Today we salute the commitment of the men and women who have never failed to play their part in keeping us safe and connecting us to people, partners, and the world.
