A MEDICAL REVIEW CLINIC WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 6 TO ASSESS CANDIDATES FOR THE SURGICAL PROGRAMME.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs, in collaboration with Hand Help Inc., is pleased to announce the availability of free hand surgeries for children and adults across Saint Lucia.
This initiative will commence from April 6 to April 11, at the Owen King EU Hospital and the St. Jude Hospital. The programme aims to provide surgical interventions to children and adults experiencing a range of hand and forearm-related conditions, many of which significantly affect daily functioning and quality of life. This humanitarian mission highlights the ministry’s continued commitment to improving access to specialized healthcare services for all citizens.
A medical review clinic will take place on Sunday, April 6, to screen and assess prospective patients. The clininc will be held at the Owen King EU Hospital: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and the St. Jude Hospital: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Conditions being assessed for surgical eligibility include
For Adults:
- Hand/Wrist pain
- Hand numbness
- Nerve pain
- Deformities of the hand or forearm
- Burns and Scars
- Broken bones of the hand
- Broken wrist
- Cysts, masses, or tumors
- Lumps and bumps
- Impaired hand function
- Extra, missing, or locking fingers.
- Old or new injuries
For Children and Babies:
- Hand or forearm deformities
- Broken hand/wrist
- Cysts, tumors, or blood vessel masses
- Crooked, large, or underdeveloped fingers
- Extra, missing, or webbed fingers
- Impaired or non-functioning hands
- Old or new injuries
- Scars and burns
- Lumps, bumps, or locking fingers
Residents whose children or family members are experiencing any of the listed conditions are strongly encouraged to attend the upcoming review sessions. This mission represents a vital opportunity to access specialized surgical carefree of charge.
