Government hopes to spare residents in the south the expense of traveling to the city.

The services of the Civil Status Registry and Adjudicator’s  Office  are to be decentralized.

Citizens residing in the south of the island requiring the services of the Civil Status Registry and Adjudicator’s  Office will be spared the hassle of traveling to Castries, as these services will be accessible from the  island’s two southern towns.

“We intend to open offices in Vieux-Fort and Soufriere, where persons requiring those documents can get them without incurring the expense of traveling to Castries and back, and not getting the documents on the same day,” Minister for Home Affairs, Justice and National Security, Sen. Hon. Hermangild Francis, said.

He added that the Government of Saint Lucia will also be utilizing computer-aided transcription in order to secure the filing of vital records.
