THE WORKSHOPS, ENTITLED "KNOW YOUR NUMBERS THROUGH THE MICRO BUSINESS GAME (MBG)" ARE DESIGNED TO HELP PARTICIPANTS TRACK AND DOCUMENT THEIR BUSINESS FINANCES

The Ministry of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives, and Consumer Affairs in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) will be hosting two workshops as an introduction to entrepreneurship and financial literacy for senior secondary school students from Forms 4 and 5.

The workshops, entitled "Know Your Numbers through the Micro Business Game (MBG)" are designed to help participants track and document their business finances as they play an interactive board game, through which they simulate managing a small business. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of financial management as an essential part of effective business practices while fostering decision-making. Additionally, the workshops serve as complementary activities to the Ministry’s annual summer internship programme, the SBDC Young Entrepreneurs in Action (SBDC YEA!)

Through the workshops the following topics will be introduced to the students:

  • Knowledge of the board-based business simulation, Micro Business Games, and its components.
  • Entrepreneurial skills relevant to Micro and Small Businesses and Startups.
  • Basic record-keeping skills and the application of financial tools.
  • Market dynamics and competition.
  • Interface between financial institutions and customers, along with an analysis of implications.

Ten (10) students from six (6) secondary schools are targeted for this initiative.
