The Ministry of Sustainable Development is developing a framework to guide the country in biosafety management regarding the importation of GMOs, their products and living modified organisms (LMOs).

In order to develop a framework on biosafety management to guide the country with the  importation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology in collaboration with the National Water and Sewerage Commission made presentations to the residents of Ti Rocher, Micoud yesterday.

The topic focused on biosafety measures governing GMOs. GMOs are species that have been modified for medicines, vaccines and agriculture by isolating the genes from one organism and transferring it to another.

The community meetings are organized by the National Water and Sewerage Commission, and are also used to educate residents on the work of the Commission and its responsibility.

Presentations will continue today, at the VBCC Club in La Clery at 5:30 p.m.
