THE STAGE IS SET FOR THE HOSTING OF THE NATIONAL ECUMENICAL SERVICE IN CELEBRATION OF SAINT LUCIA'S 44TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE.
The stage is set for the hosting of the National Ecumenical Service in celebration of Saint Lucia’s 44th Anniversary of Independence.
The service will be held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, February 17th, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, which has oversight of Ecclesiastical Affairs, notes that the religious communities have been encouraged to focus their regular day of worship on the selected theme and to encourage their congregants to dress in national colors (of the flag) on the weekend of 17th February 2023.
In attendance will be the Acting Governor-General - H.E Errol Charles, Prime Minister- Hon. Philip J. Pierre and Leader of the Opposition - Hon Allen Chastanet, along with other members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps and other specially invited guests.
Likewise, all Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) affiliated with the Ministry of Equity and staff of the Public Service are invited to attend the service.
Minister for Equity Hon. Joachim Henry says the Ecumenical service is well placed, and is a key component of the calendar of activities to commemorate Independence celebrations, as his Ministry seeks to reemphasis the need for divine intervention in all we do as a people and as a country.
The theme for this year’s celebrations is “Douvan Ansanm – One People Shaping Our Destiny”.
