Suitably qualified persons, as prescribed by the Supreme Court Order, Number 223 of 1967, are invited to apply to searchcommittee.cj@gmail.com to fill the position of:
CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SUPREME COURT
The appointment is made by Her Majesty by Letters Patent as advised by the Lord High Chancellor of England who, before tendering such advice, will consult with the Heads of Government of the nine states and territories of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. The Heads of Government have appointed a committee known as the Search Committee to invite, receive and vet applications and make recommendations to the Heads of Government for suitable candidates for the office of chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Applicants for the position of Chief Justice must:
- meet the requirements under the Supreme Court Order, Number 223 of 1967.
- be a person of sound moral character and integrity who conducts himself/herself at all times, both in his/her professional and personal life, in a manner which would maintain public confidence in the judiciary.
- be in good health and able to meet the requirements of the office.
- possess the professional skills, intellectual and analytical ability, along with a mature and sound temperament, for the efficient discharge of the duties of the office.
- not be a member of a political party or have participated in active politics for a period of five years preceding his selection.

About the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court:
The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) was established in 1967 by the West Indies Associated States Supreme Court Order No. 223 of 1967. The ECSC is a superior court of record for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), including six Independent States: Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; and three British Overseas Territories: Anguilla, The Virgin Islands, and Montserrat. The Court has unlimited jurisdiction in each Member State and Territory.
