The assembly of a 75,000 gallon water tank in La Haut should be completed shortly.

The La Haut Water Stewardship Program is nearing completion.

The program involves the construction of a 75,000 gallon water tank in La Haut with an aim to improve the adaptability of water users to manage threats to water security.

The program is part of the GIZ-funded International Water Stewardship Program (IWaSP), and is a collaborative effort between GIZ, the Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO), and the Windward and Leeward Brewery. It is also being supported by various civil society groups at La Haut.

D'Anthony Charles, WASCO Communications and Public Relations Officer, said the assembly of the tank should be completed shortly.

"There is good reason to believe that the assembly of the tank will be concluded successfully within the next 10 days," he said. "The progress is very pleasing. This comes at an opportune time because IWaSP is currently preparing for a mid-term review."

Mr. Charles added that GIZ is currently in the process of recruiting a subject matter specialist for the IWaSP in Saint Lucia, who will also assist in strengthening water utility management via the Caribbean Aqua-Terrestrial Solutions (CATS) program.
