The Saint Lucian delegation to Venezuela was also informed of study opportunities for Saint Lucians in different areas of the Arts.
The Saint Lucian ministers for health and education, Hon. Alvina Reynolds and Hon. Dr. Robert Lewis last week visited the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and held discussions with their counterparts, Minister for University Education, Science and Technology Sr. Manuel Fernandez, and Minister for Health Dr. Henry Ventura.
During the visit, the two education ministers signed an agreement of Recognition of Titles of Higher Education between the governments of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Saint Lucia.
The ministerial delegation also met with the Rector of the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), Nestor Viloria, who informed them of study opportunities for young Saint Lucians in different areas of the Arts including music, theater, dance, and visual arts.
The ministers then toured the Dr. Gilberto Rodríguez Ochoa Latin American Children's Cardiology Hospital, which was inaugurated in 2006 to meet the great demand of patients from birth to18 years suffering with heart defects.
Meanwhile, last Monday, an intensive Spanish Language course was launched in Saint Lucia for the 23 students selected to pursue a seven-year course in Integral Community Medicine at the Dr. Salvador Allende Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), situated in Miranda State in the Bolivarian Republic. The language course will run for eight weeks and is being conducted at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School and at the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, simultaneously.
